Center for Intercultural Understanding Dresden
We founded this association out of necessity, a matter of the heart and the desire to make a difference. The association is the legal and logistical framework for what we have been living for years, namely respectful and attentive cooperation in all areas, regardless of the origin, religion, culture or gender identification of people who come to us for help, advice and support.
We face up to the challenge of helping people who have had to flee their homeland and reach our country without prejudice.
We personally see the growth as a human and cultural enrichment and friendships and partnerships have since developed into a network in which we complement and support each other and share and pass on our good experiences.
This enables us to support those seeking help in the areas of asylum law, applications of all kinds (citizens' allowance, housing benefit, child supplement, one-off assistance, etc.), job creation, housing search, accommodation, also with the help of interpreters.
The association
ZIVD e.V. - Zentrum Interkultureller Verständigung Dresden has been committed to promoting understanding and mutual respect since 2017. The association builds bridges between groups from different spectrums, as well as for people from different areas of our society and cultures. From the very beginning, we have been committed to the protection of refugees and humane housing conditions, as well as to the needs of financially disadvantaged people in Saxony.
Our commitment is primarily intended to serve as a bridge between cultures and social classes, as well as between groups and different religions. With our work, we want to strengthen the community and the cohesion of everyone - from the I to the We.
We oppose all forms of discrimination, regardless of a person's faith, origin, sexual orientation, skin color, background or financial situation. We always take a respectful but critical stance towards politicians and authorities and are always ready to talk in order to help and mediate.
Since 2018, we as an association have also been increasingly involved in educational work on political and current issues and events: e.g. online, at events and at schools.
In cooperation with other social groups, ZIVD organizes and supports campaigns on a local, municipal, state and national level. For example, demonstrations, digital campaigns and petitions.
Projects
Understanding, education and building bridges - that is always the aim of all our projects and activities.
Volunteer
A large part of our work is carried out by volunteers and members. And not only in and for Dresden, but now also throughout Europe.
